Finns Road, Auburn, Clare Valley, South Australia, 5451
12.58 ha under vine | 0.75 ha planted in 1865
Planted in 1865, Attunga’s 800 surviving vines yield less than two tonnes each year, producing just a few barrels of intensely expressive wine. Rooted in Terra Rossa soils over shale and limestone, these dry-grown vines embody the Clare Valley’s enduring character.
Mount Surmon
Basham Road, Stanley Flat, Clare Valley, South Australia
16.35 ha under vine
Located at the northern end of the Clare Valley, Mount Surmon is one of Kilikanoon’s warmest and earliest-ripening vineyards. Planted to Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Gris, it benefits from long sunny days and cool night temperatures that preserve balance and freshness.
The rolling hills and ideal exposure help produce some of the richest, most expressive fruit in the region.
Mort’s Block
Leasingham Clare Valley South Australia 5452
5.7 Hectares under vine | Planted in 1973
Mort's Block vineyard was planted over 50 years ago by Mort Mitchell, the father of Kilikanoon's founder. This vineyard is at the heart of a group of Watervale Estates vineyards which often provides the core fruit for Kilikanoon's most prestigious labels; including it’s
name sake wine, Mort's Block Riesling.
Traditional rod and spur pruning and hand-picking honour the vineyard’s heritage, while light brown earth over limestone creates ideal
conditions for premium Shiraz and Riesling.
Meyman’s Block
Leasingham, Clare Valley, South Australia 5452
4.5 Hectares under vine | Planted in 2000
Bordering the Walton's Vineyard, this vineyard was planted in 2000 with Shiraz. Since then Malbec, Mataro and Cabernet Sauvignon have been planted. Planted in an east-west aspect the soils are red brown
earth over limestone with some ironstone at the western
end of the block. The fruit from this cooler site
produces highly aromatic wines.
Morrison’s Block
Main North Road, Leasingham, South Australia 5452
22 hectares under vine
Purchased by Kilikanoon in 2008, this vineyard has become one of the premium Shiraz producing blocks in the Kilikanoon portfolio. Planted in red brown earth over limestone on a easterly aspect, the
oldest vines here date back to the early 1970's.
With fruit ranging from the Valley floor to the ridgeline, the layered soils produce a wide array of flavours in the various varieties planted
here. This fruit produces a wide range of options for style
from year to year and allows the crafting of such blends
as the Morrison Shiraz Cabernet.
Walton’s Block
Blocks Road, Leasingham, South Australia 5452
8.1 hectares under vine
Walton's is situated in the Watervale sub-region of the Clare Valley with its classic soils of red brown earth over limestone. Initially granted to a returned serviceman after WW2, the land was planted with premium Clare Valley varieties of Riesling, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon,
the vineyard is approximately 75 years old.
The grapes are dry grown, hand-pruned and hand-picked. The sprawling Grenache block at the top westerly facing hill, ripens slowly in the long sunline hours of the summer afternoons. This fruit is processed
separately to produce the Walton’s Grenache.
Tregea Vineyard
Penna Lane, Penwortham, South Australia 5452
1 hectare under vine
Planted in 1998 this small, dry grown Cabernet Sauvignon block frames our Cellar Door and provides the superb grapes for our Tregea Reserve Cabernet. A beautiful backdrop to our Cellar Door and rightly
named Tregea's Terrace.
Soil offers gravely loam, east west running block with an easterly aspect. Being tucked away in the shady and cool soils that sit next to the
old river bed, these grapes are typically some of the last
picked each year.
Trillian’s Hill
Spring Farm Road, South Australia 5452
24 hectares under vine
Established in 2001, Trillian's Hill boasts gravely loam soils and benefits from an abundant water supply. Varieties planted on this high elevation vineyard include Shiraz, Montepulciano, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Mataro. These varieties thrive in the cooler reaches of the Valley - contributing to some of Kilikanoon’s most iconic wines while also producing elegant fruit for some of the Single Vineyard wines.
The elevation of approximately 600 meters makes this one of the highest vineyards not only in the Clare Valley, but in South Australia.
