Feeling the love with Tony Love's Top 100 Wines

Feeling the love with Tony Love's Top 100 Wines

On Saturday July 15, Tony Love’s Top 100 Wines was released in The Advertiser.

The 2014 Prodigal Grenache featured in the 'Red Wine' section scoring 94 points, and the 2015 Killerman’s Run Shiraz featured in the ‘Bargains’ section with 93 points at $20.

2014 Prodigal Grenache

The Clare's traditional reds such as shiraz and cabernet are highly regarded, but grenache might come as a surprise - older versions like this are most desirable. This is smashing: perfumed, intensely juicy with characters quite primal in it's earthy, bloody, rare-steak nature, while that fragrance just hangs right through, the mix of fruit, savoury, subtle oak and sticky tannins spot on and very drinkable.

2015 Killerman's Run GSM

Not the most usual of the red blends coming out of the Clare region where more often than not cabernet and shiraz rule the waves. This plays a robust game from the sttart - dark fruits with just the right saturation of oak and spice, even a little cola as well with a full-bodied delivery as you taste. Bigger red drinkers will appreciate the drive and depth.
