Kilikanoon Wines takes top Australian producer title at 2026 Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Awards, while the Attunga 1865 Shiraz 2022 is named Best Australian Red of Show.
Kilikanoon Wines has taken out one of the biggest titles in Australian wine, being named Best Producer Australia at the 2026 Mundus Vini International Grand Wine Awards. The Clare Valley winery also took home the trophy for Best Australian Red of Show for its Attunga 1865 Shiraz 2022, making it a standout result for both the winery and the Clare Valley. With producers from across Australia competing for the title, being named Best Producer is a significant achievement.
The Mundus Vini awards are judged internationally, with wines assessed alongside entries from leading producers around the world. For Kilikanoon, the result is particularly meaningful given the winery's long history of success at Mundus Vini, having previously been named Best Australian Producer a record eight times. Kilikanoon CEO Travis Fuller said the result was a great reflection of the team and the wines being made at the winery. “To be named Best Australian Producer and then have Attunga 1865 named Best Australian Red of Show, is a pretty special result for the team. There are some incredible Australian producers putting wines into these competitions, so to come out on top is something we’re really proud of. And to have that recognition come alongside another Top 5 Red Star result from Halliday is a great reflection of the consistency of the wines we’re making.”
The Mundus Vini result comes at the same time as Kilikanoon has once again been awarded 5 Underlined Red Stars in the 2027 Halliday Wine Companion - the highest winery classification awarded by Halliday. The two results provide recognition in two very different settings: an international wine competition where Kilikanoon is judged alongside producers from around the world, and Halliday's annual assessment of Australian wineries and wines.
At the centre of the Mundus Vini result is the Attunga 1865 Shiraz, made from fruit grown on Kilikanoon's historic Attunga vineyard. Planted in 1865, the vineyard is one of the Clare Valley's oldest continuously producing Shiraz vineyards and has long been an important part of Kilikanoon's premium red wine collection. For a winery based in Penwortham in the Clare Valley, seeing Attunga 1865 recognised as Australia's Best Red of Show, alongside Kilikanoon's Best Producer title, is a result the team is proud to share. “It’s a great result for Clare Valley as well,” said Fuller. “We know how good the wines being made here are, so it’s pretty special to see one of our wines recognised at this level.”
Kilikanoon Wines was established in 1997 and is based at a restored 1860s farmhouse in Penwortham, Clare Valley. Their wines are made from vineyards across the region, with a focus on old-vine sites and wines that reflect their Clare Valley origins.
