Kilikanoon Triumphs at Inaugural Great Australian GSM Challenge

Kilikanoon Wines has claimed top honours at the inaugural Great Australian Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre/Mataro (GSM) Challenge, taking out the overall title with its 2022 Baudinet GSM.

Chaired by Tahbilk Group Director Alister Purbrick AM, the Challenge brought together leading Australian winemakers to celebrate the art of blending and showcase the regional diversity behind this classic Rhône-inspired style. Mr Purbrick praised the initiative as “an important step in recognising the quality and individuality of Australian GSMs,” noting that the category continues to gain momentum both domestically and abroad.

The Challenge highlights how Australian producers are redefining the category - crafting wines that speak clearly of place while demonstrating exceptional quality and finesse.

Kilikanoon CEO Travis Fuller said the win highlights the team’s dedication to craft and place. “The Baudinet GSM captures the essence of Clare Valley; balance, complexity, and the beautiful interplay of fruit and structure,” Mr. Fuller said. “To be recognised among the best in Australia is a tremendous honour and a testament to our vineyards and winemaking team.”

The recognition reinforces Kilikanoon’s reputation for expressive, terroir-driven wines that combine power and elegance - a hallmark of the brand’s Clare Valley heritage.
