"The Mort’s Block Riesling is exceptional with a crisp acid line that is truly reflective of the famed soil of Watervale. The fruit intensity that Mort’s Riesling know for is underpinned by a driving flavour of the limestone and slate of the vineyard. Refined, yet mouth-filling and flavour persistent, this is one of the finest Mort’s blocks produced." - Peter Warr, Chief Winemaker.

Located right beside the winery, Mort’s Block vineyard provides the core for this wine, with fruit from our Morrison vineyard on the opposite hillside providing additional depth and complexity.

  • Winemaking

Parcels were picked over the course of a week at ideal stages and were loaded directly into the waiting presses at the winery. The bright free run juice was allowed to drain and held separately, prior to gently pressing the grapes. Settled naturally, the clarified juice was allowed to warm and commence fermentation. The ferment was held at low temperatures to retain the soft aromas and fine acid line.

    Appearance

    Pale straw with brilliant clarity.

    Nose

Fresh lime and apple, with subtle notes of white jasmine and honey suckle flowers.

    Palate

The palate has a firm yet fine acid profile. The ripe flavours mimic that of the aromas and culminate in a pristine, chalky finish.

    • ALC/VOL: 12.5%
    • Size: 750ML
    • Closure: Screwcap
    • Varietal: Riesling
    • Cellaring: Potential of at least at least 10 years
