Harvested from premium vineyards throughout the Clare Valley, bunches are handled to develop the unique characters of each block. The Kilikanoon vineyards span all three valleys that make up the distinctive environment of the Clare Valley region.
Vintage Conditions
Welcomed winter rains in 2023 well prepared the vines for a long 2024 season. An early spring warm snap gave way to a cool, dry summer in 2024. These conditions slowed the ripening of the grapes. With the later picking days in the cooler conditions, the grapes were rich in flavours and held their bright natural acidities. These factors were ideal for the variety, making it a superb vintage.
Winemaking
With the vineyards spanning the length of the Valley, parcels were able to be harvested at opportune time as the berries developed their rich flavour profile. Crushed into stainless steel tanks, the grapes were allowed to naturally begin fermentation. Once completed, the skins were pressed, and the wine placed into new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 14 months. Once each batch softened, a blend that shows the refinement and richness of cooler climate shiraz was compiled but selecting barrels out of each batch.

Wonderfully ripe and enticing, the bouquet presents blackberry, sweet cherry, star anise, and roasted hazelnut aromas, followed by a succulent palate that offers excellent weight and a plump mouthfeel. Tannins are fine and polished, making it harmonious with a long, flavoursome finish - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - June 2025

Tasting Notes
Back Vintage Tasting Notes-
Appearance
Deep maroon in colour that carries through to a purple hue.
-
Nose
Blackberry aromas are lifted by subtle leather notes.
-
Palate
Ripe, dark black currant and mulberry are lifted by a rich core of crisp red fruit that remain bright across the entire length of the palate. The natural acid lifts this full bodied wine giving it a bright and crisp texture. French oak seamlessly gives way to a graphite and river stone tannin that is fine and persistent. This wine is finely balanced with a supple texture that is full and rich from start to finish.
