Place
Single Vineyard - Trillian’s Vineyard, Penwortham, South Australia
Altitude - 550m
Soil - Red loam over clay
Vintage Conditions
The 2022 vintage has been described as classic Clare with cool and dry conditions producing solid yields and fruit with great varietal character and natural acidity. Good late-winter and early-spring rains led to an even budburst, good early canopy growth and contributed to mitigating frost damage. Dry conditions prevailed from November onwards, with rainfall well below average for the remainder of the growing season.
Winemaking
Fermentation started spontaneously by the natural yeast present in the vineyard, and lasted 14 days. The grape skins were left for an additional week in the wine to extract further colour and flavour before being basket pressed. The wine was then racked into seasoned French oak to mature for a further eighteen months, adding structure and complexity.

2022 Kx Montepulciano
Overview
The Kilikanoon Experimental range or Kx for short, is an opportunity for our winemakers to try new techniques and styles of wine. Montepulciano is a relatively rare grape grown in Australia and very rare in the Clare Valley. Its spiritual home is the Abruzzo region of Italy where it produces high quality, black fruited, spicy wines.Couldn't load pickup availability

Tasting Notes
Back Vintage Tasting Notes-
Appearance
Deep red with a vibrant purple hue
-
Nose
Bright and fresh aromas of black forest fruits, with a hint of fine oak spice.
-
Palate
Intense boysenberry flavours are lifted by Sarsaparilla notes to create a palate that is driven by the rich flavours from start to finish. These flavours are complimented by a plush chewy tannin giving the wine an opulent and generous length.
