Vintage Conditions

A dry yet cooler vintage, 2019 has delivered smaller yields of highly flavoured fruit. The lower than average rainfall bet ween December and harvest created a few challenges, but
through careful fruit selection and final blending, this classic final cuvée really shows what the Clare Valley can deliver.

Winemaking

Shiraz predominantly from our Farehams and Morrisons Vineyard in Leasingham, Cabernet from Malcolm Parish’s vineyard and Farehams. Shiraz picked mid Feb, Cabernet early march. Fermented in open fermenters for 7-8 days. Pumped over twice daily. Basket pressed into quality French oak hogsheads 5% new balance 2-5 years old. Maturation in barrel for 15months prior to blending and bottling. No Fining or filtration.

    Brick red in colour with youthful crimson hues.

    Nose

    Dark cherry and plum notes from the shiraz are complemented with dusty blackberry and choc mint notes from the cabernet.

  • Palate

    Palate

    Generous, full and vibrant. Complex red and black fruit flavours are encased in a firm savoury tannin structure. Bright acidity on the finish gives length and persistence.
