Place

The Cabernet has been sourced from individual parcels from our Golden Hillside vineyard that surround the winery in Leasingham, a small settlement in the southern Clare Valley. Originally planted by returned soldiers after the second world war, these unique plots of land continue to provide us with an amazing fruit resource to draw upon.

Vintage Conditions

A dry yet cooler vintage, 2019 has delivered smaller yields of highly flavoured fruit. The lower-than-average rainfall between December and harvest created a few challenges. There were some extreme weather conditions during the growing season, including the lowest temperature recorded in spring and the highest ever temperature in summer, but the grapes showed great resilience. Shiraz thrived under these dry and reasonably
cool conditions.

Winemaking

All parcels were vinified using traditional methods in small open topped fermenters before basket pressing to a range of new and seasoned French oak casks. After
fifteen months maturation, the final cuvee’ was assembled and bottled without fining or filtration

2019 Golden Hillside Shiraz Cabernet

2019 Golden Hillside Shiraz Cabernet

Overview

"The sweetly expressed bouquet is filled with blackberry, warm spice and roasted nut characters with an elegant floral overtone. The concentrated palate displays outstanding weight and richness, wonderfully complemented by finely infused tannins and silky texture. Splendidly harmonious and sumptuous, making it immensely appealing." - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
