Place
Originally planted in the 1970’s, the Fareham’s Vineyard that surrounds the Kilikanoon Winery at the Southern end of the Clare Valley has been producing exceptional fruit for almost 50 years.
Winemaking
A cooler than expected vintage caught many by surprise, the lower evening temperatures punctuated by a number of lighter rainfall events that slowed down the ripening process and allowed the harvest to run well into April. Clare always looks its best in the cooler seasons and these conditions have been very favourable in creating wines of great definition, character and complexity.
Winemaking
Individual parcels were vinified separately, and remained so until the final wine was assembled. Multiple harvests give us the ability to create a complex and layered wine with both youthful and developed characteristics. Maturation in a selection of seasoned French oak barrels for sixteen months provides a softness and elegance to the silky palate.

Tasting Notes
Back Vintage Tasting Notes-
Appearance
Brick red in colour with crimson highlights.
-
Nose
Dark red fruits, plum and cherry with sweet spice, leather and licorice.
-
Palate
The aromas carry through to the palate, where they are wrapped in firm, fine grained tannins. Measured use of oak is well integrated providing structure and poise to what is a classic example of Clare Valley Shiraz.
