Place
Our finest Cabernet sourced equally from two vineyards; our cool climate Cabernet vineyard at Cellar Door near Penwortham and a warmer site adjacent the winery in Leasingham.
Vintage Conditions
A warmer, drier and more traditional Clare Valley vintage In 2015 featured lower yields and smaller berries, resulting in fruit parcels of elevated colour, flavour and intensity. The final blend expresses the very best of both sites in a classic Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaking
As with all our Reserve wines at Kilikanoon, each fruit parcel is selected, vinified and kept separate until the final cuvee is put together. Traditional open fermentation, basket pressing to new and seasoned French oak hogsheads for 16 months before bottling the final blend unfined and unfiltered has maximised the wine’s character, complexity and ageing potential.

Tasting Notes
Back Vintage Tasting Notes-
Appearance
Inky red in colour, with crimson hues.
-
Nose
Intensely focused; riper cassis lift combines perfectly with the more subtle tobacco leaf, mint, red berries and wood smoke on the nose.
-
Palate
Well-defined palate that has that unmistakable Clare Valley structure, poise and elegance; the dark cherry, cassis and blueberry notes are in perfect synchronicity with the fine-grained tannins, noble French oak support and natural acid componentry, in a long and satisfying finish.
