Place
Crafted from the old vineyards adjacent to the winery in Leasingham, including the renowned, original Mort’s Block. Oracle continues to be one of our most celebrated and rewarded wines. Its powerful and opulent presence has been setting the bar for Clare Shiraz for over twenty years.
Vintage Conditions
2015 was a slightly warmer year than the previous one with the elevated topography of the Golden Hillside vineyards remaining a key influencer in keeping evening temperatures lower, slowing the ripening process down yet still allowing all fruit parcels to mature and develop evenly across the slope. A classic Shiraz vintage across the Clare Valley.
Winemaking
A number of low-yielding, discreet parcels of Shiraz were selected, vinified separately using time-honoured traditional winemaking techniques, then aged for 18 months in a selection of new and one year old, small French oak casks. The final cuvee was assembled and bottled, both unfined and unfiltered, in January 2016. Extended cellaring then occurred before the release of this wine in 2019.
