Made only in exceptional years, our 2015 Attunga 1865 Shiraz continues the incredible legacy of a small single site Shiraz crafted from a vineyard planted in 1865.
The Attunga 1865 Shiraz celebrates the incredible legacy and longevity of a tiny, single Shiraz vineyard that was planted near Auburn in the Clare Valley over 150 years ago. Cropping at less than one tonne per acre, the berries are tiny, thick skinned and hand sorted, then open fermented and basket pressed before maturation in a combination of new and one-year-old, tight grained, French oak hogsheads for 22 months. The Attunga 1865 is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserved and enhanced the vineyard's unique terroir and varietal character.
Deep red with crimson hues, and all the prowess to follow through. New and old french oak has given this baby structure and intensity; lifted dark fruits, fresh licorice and compote entertain the palate while the vanilla and light spice do the supporting work behind the scenes. It’s sincere yet subtle, immense yet composed. This will not fail to disappoint you, even for decades to come.
