The Kilikanoon Experimental range or Kx for short, is an opportunity for our winemakers to try new techniques and styles of wine. Montepulciano is a relatively rare grape grown in Australia and very rare in the Clare Valley. Its spiritual home is the Abruzzo region of Italy where it produces high quality, black fruited, spicy wines.

Tasting Notes

Complex and finely balanced, this wine carries all the traditional hallmarks of the variety. Flavours of dried herbs, firm red cherries, raspberry liquorice and roasted sumac intertwine across the palate and linger on the finish. The medium body is refreshing and lengthened by the savoury herbal finish that holds and melds with enduring melting tannins.
