Kilikanoon Wines
A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, both varieties sourced from the elevated Baudinet vineyard located near Penwortham. This new release named after Bruce Baudinet, shareholder and Director of Kilikanoon and the owner of the vineyard.
Harvesting each parcel at the optimum ripeness, the fruit was crushed, with some berries allowed to remain unbroken to improve overall complexity, into small open topped fermenters and pumped over by hand for ten days. Basket pressing to a mix of new and old French oak hogsheads then occurred with the separate parcels allow to mature in the cellar for 15 months before final assemblage took place. The wine bottled both unfined and unfiltered to ensure the wines maximum flavour and personality were maintained.
Bright red in colour with youthful crimson tints.
Fresh and lively on the nose, redolent of red fruits, spicy plums, sandalwood and a classy veneer of subtle French oak char rounded out the aroma.
A varietal blend made in many of the world’s most famous estates, the bright red fruits and cassis from the Cabernet perfectly in sync with the juiciness, blueberry notes and added texture of the Malbec has created a modern, complex and well rounded palate, with the fine boned acidity and powdery tannins further enhancing the wines appeal and ageability.
