A local blend sourced mostly from our cool climate Skilly Valley vineyard near the picturesque Kilikanoon cellar door with an addition from our high altitude Trillians Hill vineyard in Penwortham.
Once harvested, each parcel was kept separate, drained and very lightly pressed before the juices were cold settled. The racked juices were fermented cool at 14 degrees for three weeks before one parcel had its ferment arrested just before dryness, leaving a small amount of retained grape sugar to provide the final cuvée with some additional texture and structure.
Pale straw with some subtle ‘Gris’ tints to its appearance. Brilliant in clarity.
Lifted aromas of Japanese pear, green apple, cinnamon spice and fresh quince enliven the nose.
Fresh and lively with a rounded texture and a fine acidic backbone, the palate beautifully combines the fresh flavours of green apples, international pears and ‘just picked’ quinces with the exotic spicy undertones of cinnamon and cloves, in a long and indulgent finish.

First made back in 1997 and still definitely one of the sentimental favourites in our Kilikanoon portfolio, the Prodigal continues to set the standard for Clare Valley old vine Grenache.2012 was another good year for Grenache; the vintage was mostly trouble free, the warm dry days and cool nights influenced by the regions unique topography and elevation promoting fruit freshness, elegance and flavour intensity. Made as a final blend from two old Watervale vineyards, each parcel was vinified separately, basket pressed and allowed to mature for 16 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads before final bottling unfined and unfiltered.

Beautifully balanced and textural in structure, the seductive flavours of dark cherries, rich chocolate, sweet kirsch and spicy French oak seamlessly combine with the polished tannins and fine bodied acidity that Grenache is renowned for.

The Covenant is composed from selected vineyards located in the Clare Valley. An excellent season and vintage for Shiraz in the Clare Valley, the generally warm and dry conditions of 2014 maximising the flavour potential of all the fruit parcels whilst the regions famed elevation, providing cool night time temperatures ensuring elegance and long cellaring potential.Selected parcels of handpicked fruit were fermented separately from five vineyards across the region and allowed to age for 18 months in small French oak casks before final blending and bottling.
