2015 Killerman's Run GSM

Mr Killerman, as a young Mort Mitchell called him, lived alone in a humble tin shed in the hills behind the Kilikanoon Cellar Door. Entirely self-sufficient, he grew his own fruit and vegetables and roamed the valley for his meals with rabbits being his favourite gourmet treat.

Mort grew to know and respect this man of the bush, learning the secrets of the land and how to become one with the environment. The Killerman's Run range of approachable wines showcases the distinguished and varied terroir of the Clare Valley and the Kilikanoon philosophy of uncompromised quality and consistency.

  • Winemaking

Our Killerman's Run GSM has been crafted through careful fruit selection, traditional winemaking techniques, sixteen months maturation in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads and bottling unfiltered to fully enhance the wines character and appeal.

Brick red in colour with youthful crimson hues.

Hints of game, savoury meats, red fruits and Medditeranean spices all futher enhanced by subtle French oak notes.

A seamless and rewarding French styled blend, the majority Grenache providing cherry fruits, toffee and perfume, the Shiraz, robustness and structure whilst the 10 percent Mataro giving length, persistence and a savoury twist to the finish. An excellent food wine that will further reward with additional cellaring.

    • Good colour; this is a full-bodied blend that offers great value for present or long-term future development. At the moment it's hearty and rich, laden with red, purple and black fruits, neither oak nor tannins seeking to intrude into the fruit package.

    • Pale to medium garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Killerman's Run Grenache Shiraz Mataro is redolent of kirsch, baked raspberries and Chinese five spice with hints of white pepper and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied with plush tannins and a generous amount of spicy red berry preserves flavors, it has a long peppery finish.
