With the exception of the 2011 vintage, each year since 1997 we have released the iconic Oracle Shiraz. Crafted from old vine fruit grown along the Golden Hillside in Leasingham, it continues to display the opulence, regional character and varietal power the valley is so renown for.
2014 was a cooler and more protracted vintage in the Clare Valley, allowing the Shiraz blocks along the west face of the Golden Hillside to ripen more slowly, bringing all parcels to their very optimum levels of maturity.
Low yielding Shiraz parcels were chosen across our Golden Hillside vineyards, vinfied separately using time honoured traditional techniques, then aged for 18 months in a selection of new and one year old French oak hogsheads. Bottling occurred without any fining or filtration.

Richly hedonistic, the nose jumps out of the glass, vigorously capturing the alluring aromas of dark chocolate, coal tar, exotic spices and complimentary French oak char.
A wine of tremendous concentration, complexity and understated elegance, the palate brims with riper plums fruits, dark chocolate and tar nicely paired with classy French oak and polished tannins that carry over in the mouth well after the wine has been consumed. A wine made for the ages.

A standout vintage, 2012 has been compared very closely with the famous 2002 vintage, with the ripening and harvest conditions consisting of warm days, cool nights with minimal rainfall and no disease pressure what so ever; perfect ingredients in the production of long lived, flavoursome Shiraz wines.

A balanced and focused palate, the flavours of fresh berries, cherry plums and dark chocolate feature predominantly, beautifully enhanced and complexed by the long lived natural tannins and classy French oak. Our strong interest and respect for French varietals continues at Kilikanoon, with the release of our first straight Mataro. Often called by its French name, Mourvedre (we prefer the local Australian moniker), Mataro has been used by Kilikanoon since 2002, its terrific length and flavour profile instrumental in many fine GSM blends. As a single varietal, Mataro tends to be quite tarry and spicy by design, its firm yet gentle tannins are a vital piece of its personality.The Clare Valley has proven to be an excellent place to grow Mataro, its higher elevation, warm dry climate and cool evenings during harvest are perfect conditions for creating classy, flavoursome and age worthy wines. The 2013 vintage was a great year to start the ball rolling. The fruit was picked in the cool of the early morning, fermented on skins traditionally, before basket pressing to mostly seasoned French oak hogsheads, where it matured for 18 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.

A dark and quite heady nose of savoury meats, road tar, pepper and faint cherries combine seamlessly together, nicely underpinned by subtle French oak notes.
A wine that quickly builds in the mouth, the initial cherry and red fruit flavours further deepening to include spicy salami, tar, black olive and hints of seasoned oak chariness. Characterised by its unique personality and persistence, it presents as a wine of serious ageing potential.

Released as our finest Riesling cuveé of the vintage, the 2016 Mort’s Reserve was chosen from a single block on our famed Mort’s Block vineyard. Planted in 1970, it’s red loamy topsoil over the much deeper limestone base and east – west orientated rows are the perfect ingredients from which to craft this wine.
The 2016 vintage proved to be an excellent one for Riesling. We carefully monitored flavour development and identified very early in the vintage which blocks were looking superior. The quality of the fruit almost enabled the wine to make itself. The cooler nights are instrumental in retaining high natural acidities, intense flavours and long ageing potentials.
Showcasing the most distinguished of Kilikanoon’s terroir, Mort’s Reserve Riesling is a symphony of texture and complexity. We use only hand harvested fruit and free run juice, before a long and cool ferment; crafting the unequivocal essence of Kilikanoon.

Fresh limes, orange blossom, and hints of lemon curd overwhelm the nose.
Made in a true Reserve style, the flavours of freshly cut limes, citrus rind and piercing natural acidity beautifully combine to create a wine that over delivers on all expectations. Fine, long and extremely age worthy.

Our Baudinet Blend is named after a partner in Kilikanoon, Bruce Baudinet, who owns the Clare Valley vineyard where the Shiraz and Mataro are grown.
A little warmer than the classic 2012 vintage, 2013 again delivered for the reds in Clare with the warmer ripening conditions beautifully tempered by the cooler nights, slowing down the ripening process and allowing the harvest to proceed at optimum ripeness for all three varieties.
The Baudinet Blend is a new wine for Kilikanoon and one that pays homage to our affection for French blends. Aged carefully for 16 months in well seasoned French oak and then bottled both unfined and unfiltered.

Hints of roasted meats, dark cherries and black olives are seductively enhanced by the spicy, seasoned French oak notes.
A seamless blend of three of the most noble grape varieties from the old world; the majority Grenache providing the vibrancy and perfume, the Shiraz the texture and robustness and the Mataro, the savoury edge, charcuterie and palate persistance. Medium bodied with fine tannins and natural acidity complete the statement.
