Kilikanoon Wines
Only from the finest vintages in the Clare Valley do we produce a Duke Reserve Grenache. 2009 provided that opportunity; the perfectly slow ripened fruit, intense flavours and aromatics, fine grained tannins, all beautifully matched to a blend of new and seasoned French oak casks to quietly build texture and complexity within.
Made in very limited quantities and sourced from an eighty year old vineyard in the heart of Watervale, the hand picked fruit parcels were destemmed and fermented in an open topped vessel on skins, until complete dryness, before basket pressing to small French oak casks to mature for 16 months. No fining or filtration were done before bottling and the wine enjoyed well over a year in the cellar before its current release.
Brick red in colour with vibrant crimson hues.
An intoxicatingly perfumed and sculptured nose, featuring notes of kirsch, cherry ripe, dark chocolate and truffles nicely supported by classy French oak char.
A mouthwatering and complex palate, cleverly harnessing the power of the old vine fruit flavours of dark cherry, cocoa and licorice with garden spices, licks of French oak and natural tannins.
