At the very pinnacle of our Kilikanoon portfolio is Revelation; a celebration of the very best wine made at Kilikanoon in any given year. Unrestrained by varietal, vineyard or regional convention, this wine represents a blend that surpasses all those other wines beneath it.The inaugral vintage of Revelation in 2010 was created from two estate grown Clare Valley Shiraz vineyards. Made in tiny quantities and using traditional winemaking techniques, the wine was matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads for 24 months before bottling both unfined and unfiltered. It has been given well over eighteen months to further improve and mature in the bottle before release.

Made only in exceptional years, our 2012 Attunga 1865 Shiraz continues the incredible legacy of a small single site Shiraz crafted from a commercially owned vineyard planted in 1865.The Attunga 1865 Shiraz celebrates the incredible legacy and longevity of a tiny, single Shiraz vineyard that was planted near Auburn in the Clare Valley over 150 years ago. Cropping at less than one tonne per acre, the berries are tiny, thick skinned and hand sorted, then open fermented and basket pressed before maturation in a combination of new and one-year-old, tight grained, French oak hogsheads for 22 months. The Attunga 1865 is bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserved and enhanced the vineyard's unique terroir and varietal character.

Only from the finest vintages in the Clare Valley do we produce a Duke Reserve Grenache. 2012 provided that opportunity; the perfectly slow ripened fruit, intense flavours and aromatics, fine grained tannins, all beautifully matched to a blend of new and seasoned French oak casks to quietly build texture and complexity within.Made in very limited quantities and sourced from an eighty year old vineyard in the heart of Watervale, the hand picked fruit parcels were destemmed and fermented in an open topped vessel on skins, until complete dryness, before basket pressing to small French oak casks to mature for 16 months. No fining or filtration were done before bottling and the wine enjoyed well over a year in the cellar before its current release.

This revered vineyard was planted in 1865 and it celebrates an incredible legacy and history of Australian Shiraz. Located just north or Auburn, the Attunga Vineyard is still producing fruit commercially today and in certain years is released as a single vineyard wine of widespread acclaim.Cropping levels of just over one tonne per acre in an average year, the vineyard produces fruit that is small, concentrated and unique. Traditional management practices and techniques, including individual berry sorting at harvest time, ensures only the highest quality shiraz makes it to the winery.

Our strong interest and respect for French varietals continues at Kilikanoon, with the release of our first straight Mataro. Often called by its French name, Mourvedre (we prefer the local Australian moniker), Mataro has been used by Kilikanoon since 2002, its terrific length and flavour profile instrumental in many fine GSM blends. As a single varietal, Mataro tends to be quite tarry and spicy by design, its firm yet gentle tannins are a vital piece of its personality.The Clare Valley has proven to be an excellent place to grow Mataro, its higher elevation, warm dry climate and cool evenings during harvest are perfect conditions for creating classy, flavoursome and age worthy wines. The 2013 vintage was a great year to start the ball rolling. The fruit was picked in the cool of the early morning, fermented on skins traditionally, before basket pressing to mostly seasoned French oak hogsheads, where it matured for 18 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.

A little warmer than the classic 2012 vintage, 2013 again delivered for the reds in Clare with the warmer ripening conditions beautifully tempered by the cooler nights, slowing down the ripening process and allowing the harvest to proceed at optimum ripeness for all three varieties.
The Baudinet Blend is a new wine for Kilikanoon and one that pays homage to our affection for French blends. Aged carefully for 16 months in well seasoned French oak and then bottled both unfined and unfiltered.

A cuveé composed from 2 carefully tended old Grenache vineyards in Watervale, aged 77 and 71 years respectively. Only from the best vintages do we create our Duke Reserve Grenache. The 2013 vintage again gave us that opportunity. Being a shade warmer than the previous standout 2012 season, we picked both vineyards just a little earlier to ensure we achieved the perfect balance of flavour, acid and tannin needed in our signature Reserve Grenache. Having both vineyards managed with minimal chemical intervention, hand pruning and hand harvesting is a vital part of the natural calender of operations.The hand picked fruit parcels were destemmed and fermented in an open topped vessel on skins until complete dryness, before basket pressing to small French oak casks to mature for 16 months. Being a single vineyard wine, the Kelly Grenache beautifully brings to life the special characteristics of its cool elevated site, east of the town of Sevenhill.The slightly warmer ripening conditions of 2013 has given the wine slightly more weight and tannin structure, whilst the cooling night time temperatures, further influencing the perfume and fruit length so admired of this variety.
Once again, the old adage that great wines are created in the vineyard, perfectly sums up the 2013 Kelly Grenache. Its 1932 planted pedigree, its unique location and its bush vine, hand pruned and hand picked. make the winemaking part so much easier.

Made as a final blend from two old Watervale vineyards, each parcel was vinified separately, basket pressed and allowed to mature for 16 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads before final bottling unfined and unfiltered.

Low yielding fruit from two vineyards, one positioned in the warmer Leasingham district and the other at our cellar door in the cooler, more elevated Skillogalee valley.A classic Clare Valley vintage that featured warm days and cooler night temperatures, slowing down the harvest allowing both vineyards to be hand picked at their optimum levels of ripeness and maximising the development of the cassis and tobacco leaf characters, fine tannins and balanced natural acidity.
Once the hand picked fruit arrived at the winery, it was gently crushed and fermented on skins until dryness using selected, cultured yeasts. Once dry, each batch was basket pressed into a selection of new and 1 year old French oak hogsheads and allowed to mature for 18 months in our cellars. Final composition and bottling occurred without fining or filtration. This is the finest Cabernet in our portfolio with less than 3000 bottles produced.

Traditional winemaking techniques including open topped fermenters, basket pressing, fifteen months maturation in seasoned French oak hogsheads and bottling the final blended cuvée unfiined and unfiltered has increased both the wines appeal and cellaring potential.

Very much a sentimental favourite, the Duke is carefully blended from two single Grenache vineyards in Watervale, aged 72 and 78 years respectively. Both vineyards dry farmed, hand pruned and hand harvested.From each hand-picked parcel arriving at the winery, to the small open topped fermenters that were used, to the basket pressing to three to six-year-old seasoned French oak hogsheads, traditional vilification processes have been followed, hardly changed over many generations of winemaking. Some extended skin contact and bottling the final cuvee, both unfined and unfiltered, has maximised the wines true potential.

A 100% single vineyard wine, hand selected from the traditionally pruned bush vine Kelly vineyard in Sevenhill, planted in 1932.An important wine within our Reserve portfolio, the Kelly Grenache gets maximum attention in the cellar. We know that great wines always start off in the vineyard, but once this small parcel of fruit arrives at our winery, it is vinified in a small open-topped fermenter, allowed extended time on skins, basket pressed into seasoned French oak hogsheads and allowed to mature for 15 months in the cellar. Bottling the wine both unfined and unfiltered has further enhanced its complexity.
