Kilikanoon Wines
Fruit was picked in the coolness of early morning at optimal ripeness and flavour concentration. Fermented in an open fermenter for seven days prior to basket pressing into seasoned French oak hogsheads for 18 months maturation. Mataro is primarily used as a component in our GSM blends, however, in exceptional years this variety shows a completeness and personality that is worthy of its own singular wine. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Deep maroon with a ruby red hue.
Dark berries and forest floor aromas are underpinned by brown spices.
Varietal flavours of cherry and fresh pepper linger long on the palate with a fine powdery tannin.
