Kilikanoon's Vineyard Manager, Troy Van Dulken, gives us a run down on how vintage 2017 is shaping up.
Gearing up for v17, and it’s looking to be one of the latest starting vintages in a very long time.
We had double the average Spring rainfall (900mm) and were hit with a couple severe storms in the growing season - with hail, high winds and heavy rainfall. Luckily most of the storm damage just missed us!
The vines have coped very well under the stress and we are now well past the risk to fruit from mildews....
As vintage is running a month or so behind recent years, fruit will be finishing off in mid March to early April, meaning a nice cool ripening period and excellent fruit quality.
...Bring it on, we say!
